Top 10 Photos of 2014

Welcome to my photography blog! I thought that since my first post right at the end of 2014 I would share my favorite images from the year. Some were for clients, some for personal projects, and some just from memory keeping for my own family. I'll probably go back and highlight some of these photo sessions in separate blog posts from 2014 since I just started the blog but for now, here are the best of the best!

#10 Antelope Island

Last February my husband and I visited Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake for the first time. I love this image that shows the beautiful scenery and represents our triumph in getting out and having adventures!

#9 A cute kindergartener

This is from a family session I did at the end of the summer. I just love the expression on her face. I wish the light streaks weren't going through her hair, but I am willing to overlook them for those sparkly eyes!

#8 Sydney's Bridals

Several of my favorite images from the year came from this bridal session with Sydney. The lighting and sunset were amazing that night and we chased the sun getting some amazing images. I love the colors in this scene and the depth of field is just perfect.

#7 Kyle and Calli

So many great images came from this couple's shoot in October. I love this one of them looking at each other because it's much more representative of their relationship than just two faces smiling at the camera. The urban setting and outfit choices were a great pairing.

#6 Sydney in the snow

I've learned recently that I really love shooting in the snow. I can't wait to do more of it this winter. The red in her outfit just pops against the snow and her eyes look gorgeous.

#5 Senior Football Season

Kevin's senior football session was amazing. It came together a little last minute and turned out superb! There were so many great images of Kevin, but I ultimately love this one because showing his football equipment tells a great story all on its own. The helmet and football are super sharp and slightly edited to look a little more rough and tumble.

#4 December Sunrise

I just took this picture a few days ago and it's so amazing that it made number four for the entire year. I love photographing the sunrise and sunset and with the gorgeous colors, steam, and reflection in the road this one literally took my breath away.

#3 Fairytale Bride

This is another stunner from Sydney's bridal session. I think this image looks like it came straight from a fairytale. The light in the trees is stunning and I like how her dress is flowing behind her. It's a unique pose.

#2 Fishing at Bell Canyon Reservoir

This is another photo from adventures with my husband. We hiked to a lake we had never visited before and were pleasantly surprised at the beauty so near our home we hadn't been aware of. I had fun capturing him at one of his favorite hobbies, but unfortunately he didn't catch any fish!

#1 Sunset Bride

While it was a little harder to narrow down the other images in the top 10, this photograph is easily my number one favorite from the year. It's so stunning and not just the typical bridal portrait. It still makes me gasp!

HONORABLE MENTION:

Okay, I couldn't just pick ten. Here's a bonus picture! I took this photo of my husband back in April when we were visiting a train station. I love the drama of the shadows, the unique shapes, and the lines leading your eye through the frame.

I am so grateful for the many opportunities for photography that I had in 2014. I have learned so much and had some great experiences. I can't wait to see what 2015 brings. I am ready to create an even better top 10 for next year!
